Common questions
Do I have to enable location tracking?
No. Automatic country tracking is optional. If you choose it, Abroad Days asks for foreground location and then Always access after separate explanations. You can decline either request and add stays manually.
Why does the app show a last recorded country instead of my current country?
Abroad Days calls a country current only when it has a country observation resolved for today. An older result is labeled as last recorded so the app does not present stale information as live.
Why did automatic tracking miss or misdate a stay?
Automatic history is an editable estimate. iOS can delay or skip background updates near borders, while Location Services or the phone are off, or after you force-quit the app. Open History to correct an inferred stay or add missing dates manually.
What do question marks in the flag calendar mean?
A question mark means Abroad Days has no reviewed country for that past day. The app leaves gaps visible instead of inventing a location. Add or edit a stay in History if you know where that day belongs.
Why does a country total look wrong?
Check the country's stays in History, including both arrival and departure dates. Manual dates override automatic coverage, and overlapping saved ranges count each civil day only once. Correcting a stay updates the country totals and calendar.
What is the Schengen Stay limit?
It is an optional rolling 90/180 estimate calculated from your saved and reviewed country history. It is not a legal decision or a guarantee that a proposed stay is permitted. Check important travel decisions against current official guidance.
How do I move my history?
Export a plain CSV from Settings, then save or share it using iOS. You can import a compatible Abroad Days CSV on another installation. Review the imported stays before relying on totals.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual stays in the app. To remove the complete local database from an iPhone, delete Abroad Days from that device. Delete exported CSV files separately wherever you saved them.
Does Abroad Days tell me whether I am resident or legally compliant?
No. Abroad Days organizes saved dates and performs date arithmetic. It is not legal, tax, or immigration advice and cannot guarantee how an authority will classify a day.
